Marilyn Brophy | Obituaries | Gloucester timetable



Gloucester – Marilyn (Jordan) Brophy, 85, passed away on August 6, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. Born October 31, 1935, to the late Richard and Avis (Copeland) Jordan. She graduated from the West Bridgewater High School class of 1953. She married Thomas Gerard Brophy of North Easton, MA. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Marilyn graduated from William Business School and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Medical Transcription from North Shore Community College.
She worked for several doctors after graduating from North Shore.
Marilyn loved to sew, quilt “Grammy” quilts, cook, travel on vacation and spend time with her family. She loved to cook and prepared many delicacies for family and friends in the Gloucester area. An accomplished organist, she has performed in many churches in the area, including St. Peters in Gloucester, Rockport and Essex Methodist, and most recently First Baptist in Gloucester.
She is survived by three children, Dale (Jim Grant), Kim, Gary (Connie); 10 grandchildren Caresse Caron (Sam Raby), Brenda Baker (Mark), Sheila Deady (Tom), Melissa Williams (Shawn), Chelsea Brophy, Elizabeth Brophy (Joey); nine great-grandchildren, Zach Gray, Erik Gray, Zoey Williams, Tori Williams, Mia Baker, Owen Baker, Harper Schevis, Landon Schevis, Zander Garnhum; a sister Joan Burnap of Bridgewater; and several nieces, nephews, cousins. She was predeceased by a son, John.

Visiting hours will be Friday, August 13, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 38 Gloucester Ave., Gloucester, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. and a snack in the hall. parish church thereafter.
